It was a warm & sunny, summer day in June,

The day that I did say “I love you”, & “I do…”

Did you know that all my dreams had just come true,

& I would live out all my days right here with you…

On that warm & sunny, summer day in June.

We lived our life beneath the South Dakota sun,

A little heaven on the prairie had begun…

Gentle footsteps on the floor and little voices in the wind,

Are the sweetest days I long to live again.

Someday when our work is through,

I”ll think of the day we said “I do…” 

& tell you once again how much I still love you,

And dream about that sunny, summer day in June.

Generations on the prairie, family farm,

I still sleep in the same bedroom I was born…

& it will still remain long after we are gone,

And speak of 67 years still going strong.

I’ve been blessed to have a friend like you in life,

To share my days, my dreams, my hopes, my tears, my smiles…

And if there’s one day I could live again it’s true,

It’d be the sweetest of all summer days in June.
